A Little About Me
Hi, I’m Sam! I’m so excited to talk birth with you! I’m a registered nurse (RN), doula, and certified birth assistant. I don’t know what it is but I just love pregnant women!! Something about the pregnancy experience is so ethereal and I love to be a part of it again and again. I didn’t realize my deep passion for birth until a clinical rotation on the labor and delivery floor during nursing school. I had never witnessed the birth of a baby before and had never experienced it myself—I was absolutely amazed at the power within women and the spiritual nature of creating new life. From then on I became obsessed with all things birth and knew I wanted to be a support to families during such a transformative time.
I love every phase of the birthing journey—pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Each stage is incredibly beautiful, and I want women to experience them in the most positive and empowering way possible. As a nurse, I’ve worked in several different areas of medicine. Among those areas are OB/GYN clinic and Mom & Baby in the hospital. These experiences have given me a strong foundation that I bring into my work as both a birth doula and a postpartum doula.
Experiencing pregnancy and birth myself only deepened my love for its spiritual and sacred nature. I’m devoted to helping women feel the special connection to God that often emerges during this season of life.
My husband and I have two children—a boy and a girl. Our son was born in a hospital birth suite, and the experience was truly transformative. With the support of an incredible doula, I felt empowered and in awe of the innate wisdom of the birthing process. For our second birth, we chose to welcome our daughter at home, and I deeply appreciated the sense of peace and intimacy that experience offered.
No matter where you choose to give birth, I support you wholeheartedly. I strongly believe in trusting your instincts and choosing a birth environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and most at peace!
